An email QR code pre-fills a message in the recipient's mail app: address, subject line, and body text all ready to go. The user just taps Send. This is useful anywhere you want to reduce the steps between 'I want to contact this business' and actually doing it, like a feedback form on a receipt, a complaint process on product packaging, or an 'email us for a quote' call-to-action on a brochure.
The format uses the standard mailto: URI scheme, which every major email client on iOS, Android, and desktop supports. If you're running a campaign, you can pre-fill the subject with something like 'Interest: [Product Name]' so inquiries arrive organized in your inbox.
Keep the body text short. It's a prompt, not a novel. Something like 'Hi, I'm interested in [X]. Please send me more information.' gives the sender a starting point while leaving them room to personalize. This small pre-fill dramatically increases the conversion rate from print-to-contact compared to just printing an email address.

Static QR codes are free forever and never expire. Dynamic QR codes let you change the destination later and track scans. Both have valid use cases.
