What event organizers want to know

Are QR code tickets secure enough to prevent fraud?+

For low-stakes events, a unique URL per ticket works fine. For high-value events, you want a proper ticketing system (Eventbrite, Tito, etc.) that generates cryptographically unique codes and marks them as used after scanning. The QR code is just the carrier. The security comes from the validation system behind it.

Can I generate QR codes in bulk for a large event?+

QRCodePrime generates one code at a time for free. For bulk generation (hundreds or thousands of unique tickets), you need either a dedicated ticketing platform or a script that calls a QR code API. For shared-resource QR codes like schedules or maps, you only need one code for all attendees.

What happens if someone already scanned their ticket? Can they reuse it?+

A plain QR code does not know it has been scanned. To prevent reuse, the validation system on the backend needs to mark each code as used and reject it on second scan. Any real ticketing platform handles this. If you are running a simple event with a spreadsheet for tracking, you can manually mark attendees as they come through.

What app do door staff need to scan QR codes?+

For basic scanning, the built-in camera app on any iPhone or Android phone from the last 7 years works without any additional software. For validation against a list, staff need whatever app your ticketing platform provides, or a simple custom web app you can build with a free QR scanning library.

My event schedule changed after I printed the programs. What now?+

If you used a dynamic QR code pointing to a live web page, update the page and every printed program immediately reflects the correct schedule. If you used a static QR code pointing to a PDF, re-generate the QR code with the new PDF URL and post the new code at entry points. Printed programs pointing to old codes will still show the old schedule.

Can QR codes help me collect attendee data at the event?+

Yes. Link a QR code to a short survey or lead capture form. You can trigger this at entry (pre-event survey), during breaks (session ratings), or at exit (overall feedback). Tools like Typeform, Google Forms, or Tally work well here and require no technical setup to get started.
